Morganton Man Arrested In Meth Trafficking Case

58-year-old Darren Keith Colvin of West Union Street in Morganton was arrested Sunday (May 5) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine along with misdemeanor counts of possession of schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Late last Saturday night (May 4) a Public Safety Officer responded to a report of a stranded motorist on West Fleming Drive in Morganton. The officer came into contact with Darren Keith Colvin at the scene. 30 grams of methamphetamine and 3.4 grams of marijuana were seized during the investigation and Colvin was arrested.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Colvin has multiple convictions dating back to 2005, all in Burke County. He’s been convicted on felony and misdemeanor charges with the most recent occurring in July, 2021 for felony possession with intent to sell schedule II controlled substance.

Following Sunday’s arrest, Colvin was brought to the Burke County Jail where he was incarcerated under $15,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (May 8). Colvin’s next District Court date is scheduled for May 24.
