A Morganton home was destroyed in an early Tuesday morning (July 11) fire. At approximately 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, officers and fire personnel with the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to a structure fire at 201 Kirk Street. Upon arrival, Public Safety staff discovered the vacant residence was fully involved with fire.

Public Safety was on the scene for approximately two hours while they extinguished the fire. City of Morganton Electric personnel responded to the scene to remove an active downed power line along Kirk Street. No injuries were reported. The fire is currently under investigation by Morganton Public Safety Investigators. The residence was deemed a complete loss.
