An Alexander County woman is facing more than 80 felony counts following an arrest earlier this week. 35-year-old Megan Denae Hefner of Taylorsville was arrested Wednesday (November 29) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. She’s charged with 81 felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense. An investigation alleges that Hefner used a victims financial transaction card to make purchases on at least 81 occasions.
According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Megan Denae Hefner was convicted of felony charges in Alexander County. The conviction was in October, 2011 for felony counts of insurance fraud and possession of stolen goods. The crimes were committed in June and July of 2010. Hefner received probation and a suspended sentence.
Following her arrest, Hefner was released under a secured bond of $16,000. She’s scheduled to appear in Alexander County District Court in Taylorsville on all 81 counts next Monday (December 4).[Story and photo of Hefner courtesy of Rick Gilbert, WACB]
