More Information Released On Arrests Of Suspects In Catawba County Drug Case

39-year-old Ashley Marie Hardee and 20-year-old Kaleb Scott Smith, both of the same Hewitt Road, Claremont address, were arrested last Thursday (June 23) by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. They’re each charged with felony counts of traffick in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and maintain a vehicle, dwelling, or place for a controlled substance. WHKY previously reported on these arrests on June 24, more information has been released.

Last Thursday, deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to an overdose call on Hewitt Road. When deputies arrived they reportedly found narcotics at that location. Narcotics Investigators obtained a search warrant for the premises.

During the course of that search, investigators found and seized 5.6 pounds of methamphetamine, three pounds of marijuana, one marijuana plant, 24.45 grams of marijuana wax, 36.19 grams of suspected roxicodone pills, nine long guns, one pistol and approximately $1,275 in U.S. currency.

Additional charges are pending. Both suspects were confined in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $100,000 bond apiece. They remained in jail as of earlier today (June 27). The next District Court date for each suspect is July 14.
