More Info Released in Catawba County Trafficking Case

More information has been released regarding the arrests of 34-year-old Roy Lee Blue, Jr. of 6th Street S.W. in Conover (who also lists a Catawba address) and 27-year-old Nichole Leigh McAlpine of Bridal Path Drive in Vale. They were arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers on April 5, as reported by WHKY the following day.

Blue was charged with two counts each of trafficking in opium or heroin and trafficking in methamphetamine, along with single counts of maintaining a vehicle for the purposes of transporting controlled substances, failure to stop for blue lights & siren, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia. McAlpine was charged with two counts of trafficking in opium or heroin and single counts of felony possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were arrested when Officers conducted a traffic stop on Ted Lane in Sherrills Ford. Investigators located and seized 35 grams of fentanyl, five ounces of meth, and $1,047 in cash.

Both suspects were jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility. Blue was given a $400,000 secured bond, while McAlpine’s bond was set at $150,000, secured. They remained in jail as of this afternoon (April 10). Blue and McAlpine were scheduled to make first appearances in District Court last Thursday (April 6) with their next court dates coming up on April 27 in Newton.
