At 4:27 a.m. on Sunday, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a kidnapping at an address on Perth Road. Officers arrived quickly and spotted two women and a man standing in the parking lot near the walkway leading to the pier.

As the deputies approached the three, the man told them there was another person on a boat who was shot. While gathering additional information, the deputies went to the area where the boats were tied up and found a man with two gunshot wounds. A semiautomatic pistol, three loaded magazines, and a bag containing additional items were found in the parking lot.

The gunshot victim was taken to a trauma center for emergency treatment and surgery. The three individuals were identified as the suspects. Crime Scene Investigators processed the boat at the pier. They collected shell casings and other evidence. They also obtained security footage from a business near the crime scene. The video showed the area where the incident occurred.

While questioning the three suspects at the sheriff’s office, investigators noticed differences in the statements and gathered information about activities that occurred prior to the three coming to the pier and the shooting taking place. Based on the statements, video footage, and other evidence recovered, arrest warrants were obtained.

The shooting victim, whose name is not being released due to the potential for more charges in this case, was last reported in serious condition. Kirkpatrick received a $75,000 secured bond. Tyler and Johnson both received $10,000 dollar secured bonds. All three suspects remained in jail as of earlier today (July 11) and are scheduled to appear in District Court July 27.
