More Details Released in Eddie Greene Murder Case
More information has been released regarding the 2008 murder of Jeter Edward “Eddie” Greene, Jr.
31-year-old Emandalae Diontae Tolbert, 37-year-old Anthony Maurice Tucker, 33-year-old Jamar Quarmaine Propst, and 33-year-old Pierre Demond Ramseur have each been charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. The arrests of Propst and Ramseur were reported yesterday (September 21) on WHKY.
At about 10:30 p.m. on October 3, 2008, Mr. Greene’s body was found in his work van at an address on 1st Avenue S.W. in Long View. The Long View Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division immediately conducted a murder investigation with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (S.B.I.).
During the initial murder investigation, Investigators recovered, processed, and maintained evidence. Long View Police worked with the S.B.I. in pursuing leads; however, the case eventually was assigned as a cold case.
In April of 2020, Investigators reopened the case and requested continued assistance from the S.B.I. According to a statement released by the Long View Police Department, information and evidence gathered during the joint investigation revealed that Tolbert, Tucker, Propst, and Ramseur murdered Mr. Greene during the commission of a robbery. A Catawba County Grand Jury indicted all four suspects on September 18 of this year.
Propst was apprehended without incident yesterday. Ramseur was taken into custody at his Long View residence after a brief standoff that resulted in negotiations with law enforcement. Both men were jailed without bond in the Catawba County Detention Facility yesterday.
Tucker is an inmate at the Riverside Regional Jail in Prince George, Virginia and is incarcerated on unrelated charges. Long View Investigators are in contact with Federal authorities to arrange for Tucker’s formal arrest. Tolbert was apprehended without incident in Detroit, Michigan and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
Mr. Greene was from Caldwell County. He was described as a successful mason and owned his business, Eddie’s Masonry, for nine years.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information concerning the case should call 828-327-2343.
