More Details Released In Case Involving Arrest Of Hickory Man Charged In Break-in Case

41-year-old Michael Joseph Ford of Cape Hickory Road in Hickory was arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of breaking & entering, larceny after breaking & entering and possession of stolen property. WHKY previously reported on this arrest, more details have been released.

On March 6, 2024, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny from a storage unit at 3000 US 70 East (Economy Self Storage).  On March 7, it was discovered that a second storage unit was broken into at the same location.  After reviewing the video and gathering evidence, the criminal investigations division developed Michael Joseph Ford as a suspect.

Warrants for arrest were obtained against Ford. A search warrant was executed on March 8 and approximately $10,000 in stolen property was recovered.  During the execution of the search warrant, Ford was found to be in possession of a firearm and was taken into custody at a wood line adjacent to his property. The stolen property was recovered from the scene and was returned to the victims.

Ford is also charged in Caldwell County with breaking and entering and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was being held in the Caldwell County Detention Center under no bond. His next Burke County District Court date was scheduled today (March 22).
