More details have been released in the arrest of 81-year-old Carl Lee Mason of Chesterfield, Virginia. As previously reported by WHKY, Mason was arrested by Hickory Police early Tuesday (September 19) on a felony warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. He is wanted by the Sheriff’s Office in Chesterfield County, Virginia for a bad check, larceny greater than or equal to $1,000. He’s accused of writing a check to Ashley Furniture for over $4,200 knowing that there were insufficient funds to cover the check. The incident occurred on January 5 of this year.

As of this afternoon (September 20), Mason remained in the Catawba County Detention Facility where he is being held under a $25,000 secured bond. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton.
