More Details on Hickory Man Arrested on Fugitive Warrant

More details have been released in connection with the arrest of 31-year-old Robertino Mickel Smith of 14th Street Place N.E. in Hickory. As reported by WHKY Friday (September 15), Smith was served with a true bill of indictment for possession of a firearm by a felon and was served with a warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. He is wanted in Arlington, Virginia for robbery with a gun, receiving or buying stolen goods, and a probation violation. Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers served the fugitive warrant Friday afternoon.

As of this afternoon (September 18), Smith remained in the Catawba County Detention Facility. He was initially held without bond. Following a first appearance in District Court today, bond was set at $150,000. No additional appearances on the fugitive warrant are currently listed. Smith will appear in Superior Court on the firearms charge on September 25 in Newton.
