Mooresville Man Charged with Death by Distribution
32-year-old Timothy Franklin Wing of Planters Lane in Mooresville was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers Friday (November 17) on one felony count of death by distribution.
Events leading to his arrest began in March of 2022 when Deputies and Narcotics Detectives responded to a possible narcotics overdose at an address on Summertree Drive near Troutman. Officers arrived to find the victim deceased.
Narcotics Detectives launched an investigation and attempted to identify any witnesses who had contact with the victim prior to his death and they examined cell phone and social media records. Detectives identified Timothy Franklin Wing as the person who provided fentanyl to the victim.
An autopsy was conducted by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office. Due to an extended wait time for toxicology results from the state lab, those results were just recently returned to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. The toxicology report identified a fentanyl overdose as the cause of death.
Wing was charged accordingly and he also qualified for an enhancement of the death by distribution charge due to his past criminal history. He was taken into custody Friday and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond. He’ll appear in District Court on December 12.
Wing has a criminal history that includes felony trafficking of methamphetamine, heroin, & fentanyl by possession, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, felony breaking & entering, D.W.I., and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
