Monday Morning COVID-19 Update: Deaths Reported Sunday In Catawba County

Three COVID-19-associated deaths were reported Sunday (December 27) by Catawba County Public Health, raising the overall total to 149. There were 194 new cases of the coronavirus reported Sunday in Catawba County, increasing the total to 10,978 since the start of the pandemic. 89 people were hospitalized with the virus Sunday in Catawba County.

92 new coronavirus cases were added Sunday in Burke County, increasing the overall total to 5,823, with 77 deaths. According to the Burke County Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard, there were 16 people hospitalized with the virus as of this morning (December 28).

According to the last update from the Caldwell County Health Department, 102 new COVID-19 cases were added on Saturday (December 26), increasing the overall total to 5,455, with 66 deaths. 61 people were hospitalized with the virus in Caldwell County. As of Saturday there were six active outbreaks and four active clusters.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services earlier today (December 28) reported 2,512 COVID-19 cases in Alexander County, 119 more than the last time we reported on the county last Thursday (December 24). There have been 29 coronavirus-related deaths in Alexander County.
