Monday Morning COVID-19 Update: 15 New Cases Confirmed Sunday In Catawba County

15 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Sunday (August 2) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the total to 1,939, with 28 deaths. There were 17 people hospitalized with the coronavirus Sunday, the same total as Saturday (August 1). Catawba County’s 28th COVID-19-related death was reported Saturday.

Burke County Public Health’s COVID-19 Dashboard showed 1,637 total coronavirus cases as of this morning (August 3), an increase of 16 since Sunday morning. There have been 28 COVID-19-related deaths in Burke County and hospitalizations increased to 10 on Sunday, up from six Saturday.

Alexander County health officials Did not report any new COVID-19 cases Sunday, keeping the total at 261, with two deaths. No update was provided by the Caldwell County Health Department Sunday. Caldwell health officials learned of two COVID-19-related deaths Friday, increasing the total to 14. One patient was over the age of 75 and the other was between the ages of 65 and 74. Both patients were hospitalized and were reported to have underlying health conditions. 25 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Caldwell Friday, increasing the total to 1,096. There were 20 people hospitalized.
