A crash Monday afternoon (October 2) in Iredell County resulted in a fatality. The deceased is 78-year-old Jimmy Lee Dalton of Hamptonville, N.C.

Monday at approximately 1:50 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to Tabor Road near Speaks Road. A 1994 Ford Ranger traveling north on Tabor Road, drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The driver of the Ford, Jimmy Lee Dalton passed away as a result of his injuries at the scene. He was not restrained by a seatbelt.

During the on-scene investigation, Tabor Road was partially closed in the area for two hours. The initial investigation indicates speed and alcohol were not contributing circumstances in the collision.
