A mobile home was destroyed in an Alexander County fire. The blaze leveled the structure Sunday morning (April 9) in Taylorsville. The Central Alexander, Ellendale and Wittenburg Fire Departments were dispatched to 36 Matthew Drive at approximately 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Alexander County Fire Marshall Mark Earle said Monday (April 10) that the six occupants of the dwelling escaped the flames but the structure is a total loss. Earle says the fire is not suspicious and the cause is either electrical or was possibly caused by smoking. The Red Cross is assisting the residents.
