Meth Reportedly Seized At Checking Station, Woman Arrested On Felony Charge

29-year-old Dakota Lynn Walters of Snipes Street in Morganton was arrested last Thursday (July 20) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor failure to appear on a count of failure to comply, and driving during revocation.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday, a 2012 red Toyota Corolla passenger vehicle arrived at a Morganton Public Safety checking station. An officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle after the odor of marijuana was detected. During the investigation, the officer took Dakota Walters into custody. During the traffic stop, the officer seized 1.2 grams of methamphetamine.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Dakota Lynn Walters has one conviction listed. She was convicted of felony trafficking controlled substance in Burke County in June, 2019. Walters received probation and a suspended sentence following that conviction.

Following Thursday’s arrest, Walters was brought to the Burke County Jail under a $30,000 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (July 24). Walters was scheduled to make a District Court appearance last Thursday, no upcoming court dates were listed.
