Marion Man Killed In Caldwell County Vehicle Collision
A McDowell County man was killed in a Caldwell County crash. The deceased is 67-year-old Johnny Cleveland Davis of Marion.
Friday (March 3), at approximately 11:30 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to Union Grove Road near Parkwood Road in Caldwell County. A 2003 Chevrolet S-10 traveling west on Union Grove Road, lost control, crossed the center line, and collided head-on with an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Colorado.
The driver of the Chevrolet S-10, an 18-year-old Lenoir resident, received non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado, Johnny Cleveland Davis, passed away as a result of his injuries at the scene. He was not restrained by a seatbelt.
The initial investigation does not indicate impairment to be a contributing factor. Upon completion of the ongoing investigation and consultation with the Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office, charges are pending. Union Grove Road was closed in the area for approximately three hours during the on-scene investigation.
