MORGANTON, N.C. (WHKY) – A Marion man faces felony drug charges and DWI following an investigation Thursday evening in Morganton.

Morganton Public Safety officers responded around 6 p.m. September 17th to 131 Independence Boulevard after receiving a report of a man slumped over inside a running vehicle. Officers found John Wayne Bailey inside the vehicle and observed indicators of impairment, leading to a DWI investigation.

During that investigation, suspected narcotics were observed in plain view inside the vehicle, according to authorities. Bailey was arrested and charged with felony trafficking in cocaine, felony possession of methamphetamine, and felony maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for controlled substances. He also faces a misdemeanor DWI charge.

Bailey was given a 50-thousand-dollar secured bond and a court date of September 18th.
