Man Who Recently Served Jail Time Arrested On Charge Of Violating Probation

45-year-old Joseph Elwood Jones of Taylorsville was arrested Tuesday (March 19) by authorities in Alexander County. He’s charged with felony probation violation.

Jones was recently released from jail after being sentenced to 90 days in August, 2023 for felony counts of probation violation and receiving a stolen vehicle. The offense date is listed as September 30, 2021 and the conviction date was October 10, 2022.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Jones has multiple convictions dating back to 1996. All of the cases are from Alexander County. He’s been convicted of various felony and misdemeanor charges. The felony counts include kidnapping and drug charges.

Following Tuesday’s arrest, Jones was confined in the Alexander County Detention Center under $10,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate as of today (March 21). A Superior Court date is set for April 22.
