Man Taken Into Custody On Interstate, Charged With Felony Drug Offense

37-year-old Kyle Blackburn Brown of Scott Road in Morganton was arrested Friday (March 22) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony trafficking, opium or heroin along with a count of driving while license revoked.

Blackburn was arrested at approximately 10 a.m. Friday after Burke County Sheriff’s Officers responded to Interstate-40, exit 100 in Morganton. They responded following a report of suspicious activity involving drugs. Blackburn was taken into custody and brought to the Burke County Jail.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Brown has multiple convictions dating back to 2012, all in Burke County. All of the convictions were on felony charges including larceny, breaking & entering, obtaining property by false pretense, and trafficking schedule I controlled substance. The last conviction was in November of 2019.

Following Friday’s arrest, Blackburn was placed in the Burke County Jail under a 48-hour hold or until the first judge became available. He was not listed as an inmate in Burke County as of earlier today (March 26). A District Court date is set for April 15.
