Man Out On Bond Arrested On Drug Charges And Jailed Under $750K Bond
42-year-old Christopher Wayne Canupp of Charlotte was arrested Wednesday (February 22) by Mooresville Police Officers. He’s charged with two felony counts apiece of trafficking in methamphetamine and fentanyl, and a single felony count of maintaining a vehicle to keep, sell, or use controlled substance. He’s also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, along with counts of driving while license revoked and displaying a fictitious registration plate.
On Wednesday, a Mooresville Police Department Officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 150 for a registration violation. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, Christopher Wayne Canupp, the Officer developed probable cause to search the vehicle. The search resulted in the seizure of 28 grams of meth, 47 grams of fentanyl, and more than $9,000 in cash.
At the time of his arrest, Canupp was out on bond from a February 10, 2021, arrest in Iredell County where he was charged with felony counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and maintaining a vehicle to keep, sell, or use controlled substance, along with misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while impaired.
Canupp was jailed in the Iredell County Detention Center under $750,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (February 24). His next District Court appearance is scheduled for March 14.
