Man on Federal Probation Faces Felony Drug & Firearms Charges

34-year-old Desean Malik Millsaps of Shinville Road in Cleveland, North Carolina has been arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers on two felony counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance and single felony counts of maintaining a dwelling for the sale or use of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, and altering, destroying, or removing a serial number from a firearm.

In February, Investigators received information that Millsaps was using two addresses on Garfield Street in Statesville to store and distribute controlled substances. Investigators checked Millsaps’ criminal history and learned that the suspect is on federal probation for conspiracy to distribute heroin and possession with intent to distribute heroin.

After conducting surveillance operations and making purchases directly from Millsaps, on February 16, Investigators applied for and executed two search warrants at the Garfield Street locations. Millsaps was reportedly found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, and a firearm.

Millsaps was taken into custody without incident and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond. He’ll appear in District Court on March 11. Iredell County Investigators are currently working with Federal Probation Officers to have Millsaps returned to federal prison for violating his probation.

Millsaps has a criminal history that includes felony counts of larceny, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin, along with misdemeanor counts of larceny, conspiracy, assault and battery, and driving while license revoked.
