A Lincoln County man was killed in a motorcycle crash over the weekend in Newton. The deceased is 52-year-old Jimmy G. Hamrick of Lincolnton. Sunday (July 9) shortly before 12 midnight, Newton Police responded to a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the area of the 1700 block of Old Conover Startown Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Jimmy Hamrick was operating a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle and heading southwest on Old Conover Startown Road when he ran off the left side of the roadway in a curve. The motorcycle struck a culvert and the driveway at an address on that road. Mr. Hamrick was ejected from the motorcycle and was found deceased upon arrival of Newton Police, Newton Fire, and Catawba County EMS.
