A man was shot and killed during a hostage situation over the weekend in Catawba County. The deceased was identified this afternoon as 62-year-old Bobby Roy Farthing. Farthing’s next of kin has been notified. Shortly after 6:30 a.m. Saturday (October 1) deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a hostage situation on Village Circle, which is in the Mountain View community.
