30-year-old Dylan Robert Owens, who lists addresses on Normand Drive and Golf Course Road, both in Morganton, was arrested by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony statutory sex offense with a child 15 years of age or younger.

On November 3, 2023, Morganton Public Safety received a report of a statutory sex offense. During the investigation it was determined Dylan Robert Owens had allegedly committed sex acts with the 15 year old victim. Investigators seized electronic evidence during the investigation.

Owens was arrested shortly after 3 p.m. on November 6 and was brought to the Burke County Jail. He was incarcerated under $250,000 secured bond following the arrest. Owens made his first court appearance on November 7.

The suspect remained in jail as of earlier today (November 16) under the same bond amount. Owens is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on January 8, 2024. The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
