NEWTON, N.C. (WHKY) — A man is being held in Catawba County on three charges involving alleged sexual offenses against a child. 40-year-old Abraham Lee McClain was jailed Thursday, October 1.

McClain faces charges of statutory sexual offense with a child by an adult, taking indecent liberties with a child, and sexual activity by a substitute parent or custodian, according to Catawba County detention records.

A Superior Court appearance in Newton is scheduled for Monday, October 5. No bond amount was listed. The charges remain allegations.
