Man Indicted In Connection To Overdose Death

27-year-old Kire D’Angelo McNeil of Mooresville was arrested Friday (August 11) by U.S. Marshals on charges from Lincoln County. He was indicted by a Lincoln County Grand Jury on a charge of felony death by distribution of a controlled substance.

On September 9, 2022, Lincoln County deputies responded to the home of 35-year-old Adam Wade Nygren of Burning Ridge Drive in reference to an unattended death. A friend of Mr. Nygren told officers he came to the residence and found him deceased. Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives began an investigation and determined the death was caused by an overdose.

Evidence was collected at the home and an autopsy confirmed the substances that took his life. The autopsy listed fentanyl, cocaine, and clonazepam as the cause of death. As the investigation continued evidence collected revealed that Kire Dangelo McNeil sold the controlled substances to Mr. Nygren.

The case was brought before the Lincoln County Grand Jury where an indictment and order for arrest was issued for McNeil. A request for assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Office to help locate McNeil. On Friday, the U.S. Marshal’s Service found McNeil in Mooresville and arrested him. He was then turned over to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Nygren’s family has been notified about the arrest.

McNeil was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $125,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (August 14). A Superior Court date was scheduled today.
