LENOIR, N.C. (WHKY) — A man faces two felony charges of assault causing physical injury to emergency or medical personnel, along with a drug possession charge. Gregory Scott Deters, 56, was booked into the Caldwell County Detention Center Sunday, September 27, at 3:39 p.m.

Deters is also charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. Bond was set at $5,000 surety on each assault charge. He was granted release on his own recognizance on the drug charge, but remained in custody as of early Monday.

The specific controlled substance and circumstances surrounding the alleged assaults have not been confirmed.
