Man & Dog Die in Tuesday A.M. Fire in Northlakes

According to Caldwell County Public Information Officer Paige Counts and a press release issued by the Grace Chapel Fire Department, a 77 or 78-year-old man and a dog died in a house fire at about 3:50 this morning (January 23). The incident occurred at a residence at 5486 Valley Run Street in Northlakes. The man’s wife was able to escape the home. The victim’s name has not been released.

The Grace Chapel Fire Department responded to the scene this morning and found heavy fire coming from the home. Firefighters conducted a search and found the victim, who had already passed away from injuries sustained during the fire.

The home, which is in southeastern Caldwell County, but has a Hickory address, is uninhabitable. The fire originated in the den and has been ruled accidental in nature. The Sawmills and Little River fire departments also responded to the blaze.
