NEWTON, N.C. (WHKY) – 51-year-old David Lee Edwards of Mundy Lane in Denver, N.C. was arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony larceny, injury to personal property, and felony probation violation.

Edwards is on probation as a result of a conviction in Catawba County in May, 2026 for felony sex offender on child premises, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sentenced to probation and a suspended sentence of 18 months.

Edwards is listed on the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry as a result of a conviction in Catawba County in 2006 for sexual offense with certain victims. Following the Friday (August 21) arrest, he was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $60,000 bond. A Monday (August 24) District Court date was scheduled. A Superior court appearance is set for October 8.
