Man Charged With Theft Of Items From Lodging Establishment

45-year-old James Clifford Collins, Jr. of Branchwood Road in Statesville was arrested by Statesville Police officers. He’s charged with felony counts of larceny and possession of stolen goods or property.

Monday (January 22), at approximately 9:00 am, the Statesville Police Department responded to a call for assistance at the Courtyard by Marriott on Cinema Drive, regarding a larceny incident. Upon arrival at the scene, investigators met with members of a production crew who were preparing to depart from the hotel. The production crew reported that their equipment and luggage had been left unattended in the hotel’s parking lot for a brief period.

Upon their return to the vehicle, the production crew discovered that their equipment and personal belongings had been stolen. In a collaborative effort with nearby businesses, investigators identified and found the suspect vehicle, a green 2001 Nissan Altima. Through the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified as James Clifford Collins, Jr.

Investigators successfully recovered all property belonging to the production crew. Collins was arrested and was issued a $5,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate in Iredell County as of earlier today (January 26). A District Court appearance is scheduled for February 15.
