Man Charged With String Of Felony Drug Counts Following Traffic Stop

29-year-old Nicholas James Rosthal of Charlotte was arrested last Wednesday (June 21) by Mooresville Police Officers. He’s charged with two felony counts apiece of possession with intent to sell or deliver schedule VI controlled substance and possession of schedule II controlled substance, along with single felony counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana, and maintaining a vehicle to keep, sell, or use controlled substance. Rosthal is also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia and driving while impaired.

Last Wednesday, the Mooresville Police Department received a call from a concerned motorist about a possibly impaired driver in a red Volkswagen Passat traveling on Mecklenburg Highway. Officers found the vehicle near Waterlynn Road. After observing the vehicle travel left of center, Officers conducted a traffic stop at Fairview Road and Mecklenburg Highway.

The driver, identified as the suspect, Nicholas James Rosthal, was determined to be impaired and was placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle resulted in the reported discovery of 2.3 pounds of marijuana, 339 grams of marijuana wax, and 378 THC vape cartridges.

Rosthal was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (June 27). A District Court appearance is scheduled for July 13. Rosthal has a criminal history that includes convictions on felony drug charges in Rowan and Gaston Counties.
