Man Charged With Passing Stopped School Bus

35-year-old Joseph Graham Padgett, Jr., of Statesville was arrested Saturday (March 4) by Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. He’s charged on a felony fugitive warrant from another state, and is also charged with passing a stopped school bus, driving while license revoked, careless & reckless driving, and improper passing.

According to Highway Patrol, a stopped school bus violation occurred on Old Mountain Road in Iredell County last Thursday (March 2). Padgett is charged with passing that school bus. The Highway Patrol thanked the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department, Mooresville Police Department, and the Troutman Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.

Following the arrest, Padgett was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond. He is not listed as an inmate today (March 6). A District Court date is scheduled for March 16 on the traffic charges and March 27 on the fugitive count.
