Man Charged With Long List Of Felony, Misdemeanor Drug & Firearm Offenses
36-year-old Willie Darnell Burns of Charlotte was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of trafficking MDMA by possession and transportation, possession with intent to sell or deliver MDMA and marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule I controlled substance (psilocybin mushrooms), maintaining a vehicle for sale or use of controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Burns was also charged with misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed gun, possession of schedule II controlled substance (Oxycodone), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a news release issued Thursday (July 6), last Friday, June 30, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team were in the area of Turnersburg Highway and Interstate 77 when they conducted a traffic stop of an Infiniti M37 Sedan. Deputies spoke with the vehicle’s driver, Willie Darnell Burns, who was traveling from Charlotte to Statesville. While speaking with Burns, deputies could smell the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside his vehicle.
Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and found and seized more than 86 Grams of MDMA (Ecstasy Pills), more than 92 Grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 75 Grams of marijuana, two dosage units of oxycodone, digital scales, and bags commonly used to package illegal drugs for sales. Deputies also found a Glock 10mm pistol concealed in the vehicle. When the deputies searched Burns’ criminal history, they discovered he had been convicted of felony charges which prohibited him from possessing a firearm.

Burns was jailed under $400,000 secured bond following the arrest. He was not listed as an inmate in Iredell County as of earlier today (July 7). A District Court appearance is scheduled for July 24.
