Man Charged with Impersonating Firefighter

37-year-old Christopher Victor Miglino of Morganton was arrested today (March 27) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with impersonating a firefighter or medical personnel and resisting, delaying, or obstructing a public officer, along with a city ordinance violation.

At approximately 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, Morganton Public Safety personnel responded to a structure fire at 224 Morehead Street. When Firefighters first arrived, a neighbor was on the scene, dressed in F.D.N.Y. turnout gear and attempting to put out the fire with a garden hose.

Morganton Firefighters began to take over suppression efforts; however, the man refused to vacate the property or allow fire professionals to begin firefighting operations. After multiple commands, Officers responded and took the man, Christopher Victor Miglino, into custody.

Published reports say a woman in her 60s was killed in the fire. Her identity has not been released.

Miglino is currently out on pretrial release and was jailed without bond. A court date was scheduled for April 18 in Morganton.
