Man Charged With Having Drugs In Alexander County Detention Center

39-year-old Alexanderos Nikola Tsilianos was arrested by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of controlled substance on prison or jail premises.

The suspect was already being held in the Alexander County Detention Center when he was charged with having drugs in his possession. On Friday (December 15) he was reportedly found to be in possession of fentanyl.

Tsilianos was being held in the Detention Center on charges that include felony obstruction of justice and violation of his habitual felon status. According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Tsilianos has multiple convictions listed dating back to May, 2002.

He’s been convicted of felony and misdemeanor crimes in Avery, McDowell, and Mitchell Counties. The charges against him included multiple drug counts, larceny of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering, assault on an officer, and escaping jail. The most recent conviction listed for Tsilianos was in October of 2018 in McDowell County. He was convicted on multiple charges including felony counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and breaking and entering to vehicles.

As of earlier today, Tsilianos was being held at the Alexander County Detention Center under $60,000 secured bond. A Superior Court date on previously filed charges is set for January 2, the next District Court date on the drug charges filed Friday is January 8 in Taylorsville.
