Man Charged With Drug Offenses Following Traffic Stop
46-year-old Tony Wayne Perkins of Mooresville was arrested Thursday (September 28) by Troutman Police Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Thursday at approximately 12:50 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on Charlotte Highway. During the course of the stop, a K9 team with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. The K9 indicated the presence of the odor of narcotics.During a search of the vehicle, police reportedly found methamphetamine. The driver of the vehicle, Tony Wayne Perkins, was placed under arrest.
According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Tony Wayne Perkins has multiple convictions listed dating back to 1995. He’s been convicted of various felony and misdemeanor offenses in Iredell, Gaston, and Mecklenburg Counties. His most recent conviction was in August, 2022 in Iredell County for charges including felony possession of schedule II controlled substance.
Bond for Perkins was set at $10,000 secured. Perkins was not listed as an inmate in Iredell County as of earlier today (September 29). A District Court appearance is scheduled for October 16.
