Man Charged With Drug, Firearm Offenses Following Search Of Home
20-year-old Tavyon Delon Cauthen of Statesville was arrested Tuesday (May 9) by Troutman Police Officers. He’s charged with a long list of offenses including felony counts of sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule II controlled substance, flee to elude arrest with motor vehicle, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of schedule I and II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule I and II controlled substance, and possession of a stolen firearm.
On Tuesday, Troutman Police officers provided assistance to investigators from the Statesville Police Department and the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in serving arrest warrants for felony narcotics violations on the suspect. The Fugitive Task Force received information that Cauthen was at an apartment on Meadows Park Loop in Troutman.
Cauthen is also suspected of being involved in other recent violent criminal incidents in Statesville. During the service of the warrant officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana and obtained a search warrant for the apartment. While searching the apartment officers found a Glock pistol that was reported stolen from Statesville and what is described as an aggravated amount of marijuana in a bathroom where Cauthen had been located.
Following his arrest, Cauthen was incarcerated in the Iredell County Detention Center under $20,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (May 12). He has multiple upcoming District Court dates scheduled, the next one is set for May 17.
