Man Charged With Drug, Assault, Break-in Offenses

33-year-old Nathaniel David Meise of Tallent Road in Morganton was arrested Wednesday (December 27) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) along with two misdemeanor counts of assault with a deadly weapon and single misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, breaking or entering, and simple assault.

Shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday, a Public Safety Officer responded to an address on Amherst Road in Morganton following a report of a suspicious vehicle. The officer came into contact with the suspect Nathaniel Meise. According to police reports, the officer found 17.7 grams of methamphetamine. The suspect was taken into custody.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, there are multiple convictions listed for Nathaniel David Meise dating back to 2011. He’s been convicted of felony and misdemeanor charges in Burke and Catawba Counties. The most recent conviction was in May, 2017 in Catawba County for felony larceny.

Following Wednesday’s arrest, Meise was brought to the Burke County Jail under $13,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (December 28). District Court appearances are scheduled Friday (December 29) and January 8.
