Man Charged In Multi-Agency Drug Bust

52-year-old Gregory Travis Gowan of Lail Road in Glen Alpine was arrested last Tuesday, February 7 by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, possession of meth, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substance along with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

On February 7, a narcotics operation was conducted between the Burke, Caldwell and McDowell County Sheriff’s Offices. The joint operation resulted in a large seizure of narcotics and the arrest of a suspected meth trafficker. A search warrant was executed at a residence located at an address on Lail Road in Glen Alpine. The suspect, Gregory Travis Gowan, was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators conducted a search of the property and located approximately 4,341 grams of meth and approximately $15,000 in U.S. currency. The meth has a street value of $651,150.

Gowan was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (February 13). A District Court date is scheduled for March 2.
