Man Charged In Connection To Theft Of Jewelry & Firearms
24-year-old Damian Santibanez, Jr. of Big Forest Drive in Statesville was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with four felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense, two felony counts of larceny, and one misdemeanor count of resisting a public officer.
According to information released in a published report Thursday (March 2), the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the case on February 17 after receiving a report that approximately $10,000 in jewelry and guns had been stolen from a home in the Troutman area.
It was learned by investigators that Damian Santibanez Jr., a former roommate of the victim, had allegedly taken several of the stolen items to various pawn shops in surrounding counties to be pawned. Most of the stolen items were recovered. As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained for Santibanez
On Sunday, February 26, deputies found Santibanez in the area of his residence. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. Sanitbanez was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where bond was set at $65,000 secured on the felony charges and $2,500 secured on the resisting an officer charge. He remained in jail as of earlier today (March 3) under that total bond amount of $67,500. A District Court date is set for March 20.
