Man Charged In Connection To Overdose Deaths
28-year-old Kaylan Obrien Brandon of Statesville was arrested Wednesday (November 1) by Statesville Police Officers. He’s charged with two counts of felony death by distribution.
On Wednesday at 11:18 a.m. the Statesville Police Department responded to a call to assist Iredell County EMS at the 1100 block of South Meeting Street in response to two unconscious females. Upon arrival, both individuals, identified as 33-year-old Brittany Peace and 35-year-old Heather Wilson, both of Statesville, were pronounced deceased by EMS.
Upon initial investigation of the scene, officers found narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the bedroom where Peace and Wilson were found. In response to these findings, SPD Narcotics Investigators initiated an investigation into the overdoses.
The investigation revealed that one of the females had purchased narcotics in the early morning hours last Wednesday shortly before the overdoses. The purchases were allegedly made from Kaylan Obrien Brandon.
Narcotic Investigators, in coordination with Patrol Officers and the Violent Crime Unit, established surveillance on Brandon. Shortly thereafter, Brandon was taken into custody.
Brandon was transported to the Statesville Police Department and interviewed by investigators. Following the interview, he was taken before a magistrate and charged, then placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $1,000,000 secured bond. His next District Court date is November 22.
The investigation is continuing.
