Man Charged Following Reported Standoff In Alexander County

54-year-old Henry Arthur Prado of Caldwell Pond Road in the Ellendale Community of Alexander County was arrested Monday (June 24) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats.

Deputies responded to a residence off Caldwell Pond Road in the Ellendale Community at approximately 8 p.m. Sunday. A man was in the dwelling along with a woman and two juveniles.

Alexander County Sheriff Chad Pennell said on Monday that threats were made and the man was armed and intoxicated. The Caldwell County Swat Team responded. No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained. The female and juveniles were allowed to leave the residence. Sheriff Pennell says the decision was made to pull-back after the woman and juveniles were confirmed to be safe.

Warrants were issued for Henry Arthur Prado who lived at the Caldwell Pond Road location. Pennell says he made the decision to defuse the situation after communicating with the subject.

On Monday, Parado surrendered to the Alexander County Detention Center. He’s charged with assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats. Prado was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $25,000. A court date is scheduled for July 22.
