LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A Lincolnton man is facing multiple charges after police say he forced a woman into a vehicle before leading officers on a brief attempt to flee Wednesday.

According to the Lincolnton Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of 1430 East Main Street on June 24 after receiving a report of a possible abduction. Police say an unknown man forced an unidentified white woman into a vehicle before leaving the scene.

Officers already in the area quickly located the suspect’s vehicle traveling east on East Main Street. Investigators say officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver continued in an attempt to evade police.

The vehicle eventually stopped at the Red Rabbit, where officers took 40-year-old Timothy Michael Brittain into custody without incident.

Brittain has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, felony flee to elude, driving while impaired, driving while license revoked and an open container violation.
