62-year-old Bruce Allen Hanna of Silver Creek Church Road in Morganton was arrested Monday (May 24) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, possession of schedule I controlled substance (heroin), possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver methamphetamine, and possession of meth. He’s also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
WHKY previously reported on Hanna’s arrest earlier this week, more information has been released. On Monday, Narcotics Investigators with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation at an address on Mountain Breeze Drive in Morganton. The investigators made contact with Bruce Allen Hanna in the residence, and he reportedly attempted to conceal narcotics.
Investigators seized trafficking amounts of suspected controlled substances that field-tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine. Hanna was arrested and charged with the drug offenses. As WHKY previously reported, Hanna was arrested along with two other suspects by the Burke Sheriff’s Office on February 25. The arrests were made following a search at Hanna’s residence resulted in the discovery of heroin, fentanyl, meth, xanax, morphine, and suboxone.
WHKY also previously reported on an arrest of Hanna on April 5 by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He was charged with felony and misdemeanor drug counts following a traffic stop on Burkemont Avenue. Suboxone, marijuana and cash was reportedly found by police. Hanna was also arrested last August by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office following a search at Hanna’s residence during which meth, heroin, drug paraphernalia, and firearms were found. Charges in these cases are still pending.
Following Monday’s arrest, Hanna was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail under $500,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (May 27). A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
