Man Arrested In Connection To Robberies This Morning

44-year-old Charles David Kincaid of Claremont was arrested today (August 7) by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with undetermined felony offenses in connection to robberies in Hickory and Taylorsville.

At 7:39 a.m. today deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a Robbery at the Propst Superette Convenience store at 3725 Sulphur Springs Road in Hickory.

When deputies arrived they were informed that a person entering that store informed the clerk of their intent to commit a robbery and made a demand for money. This person was described as a white male who was captured on the store’s surveillance footage. This person obtained a small quantity of money before fleeing the store. Investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division initiated an investigation into this incident.

At 10:37 a.m. a Robbery at the Pahal Shop and Save on Highway 16 South in Taylorsville was reported to Taylorsville Police. The person committing that robbery matched the description of the person who committed the robbery at the Propst Superette. Surveillance footage from the Taylorsville robbery captured a dark colored SUV operated by the person committing that robbery.

Shortly after 11:00 a.m. Sheriff’s Officers spotted a dark colored SUV matching the description of the vehicle used in the Taylorsville robbery traveling along Hwy 16 North in Catawba County. Investigators stopped that vehicle on I-40 near exit 130. Charles David Kincaid, identified as the driver, matched the appearance of the person committing both robberies and was taken into custody. A quantity of money believed to have been taken from both stores has been recovered.

Kincaid will be charged with felony crimes relating to both robberies. The charges had not been issued by the magistrate when the information was released by the Sheriff’s Office this afternoon. Investigators with Taylorsville Police Department, Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and Catawba County Sheriff’s Office are partnering together in these investigations which are ongoing.
