Man Arrested after Shooting in Olin
58-year-old Brady Wayne Gaither, Jr. of Tabor Road in Olin has been arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers on a charge of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Just after 5 p.m. last Friday (March 17), Deputies responded to an address on Tabor Road in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, Deputies found a male victim in the yard suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was conscious and alert, and was able to communicate with emergency personnel. The victim was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment.
Detectives interviewed witnesses at the scene and collected evidence. Once the injured man was stabilized at the hospital, Detectives interviewed him. The victim indicated that his neighbor and cousin, Brady Wayne Gaither, Jr., was the shooter. He said the shooting occurred in the yard after a verbal argument with Gaither.
A warrant was issued for Gaither’s arrest. On Wednesday morning (March 22), Gaither was taken into custody at his residence. He was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond. No court dates are currently listed.
Gaither has a criminal history that includes two counts of felony discharging a weapon into occupied property and single felony counts of common law robbery, obstruction of justice, and identity theft. Gaither’s history also includes a number of misdemeanor offenses, including three counts of assault on a female, two counts of assault inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor simple assault, five counts of driving while license revoked, misdemeanor injury to real property, multiple reckless driving charges, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
