Man Arrested After Reportedly Being Found In Stolen Vehicle
34-year-old Jonathan Scott Whitley of the Rowan County town of Landis, N.C. was arrested Monday (April 10) by Troutman Police Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of cocaine, and possession of schedule II controlled substance. Whitley is also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, possession of drug and marijuana paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed gun along with a count of driving while license revoked.
Sunday (April 9), at approximately midnight, a Patrol Division officer of the Troutman Police Department found a vehicle on South Main Street. The vehicle had been reported stolen by the Mt. Airy Police Department. Officers conducted a vehicle stop where they identified Jonathan Whitley as the driver.
According to police reports, Whitley was found to be in possession of a concealed firearm, 1.5 grams of cocaine, and ten grams of methamphetamine. Whitley also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Cabarrus County, where he’s charged with failure to return rental property.
Whitley was placed under arrest and brought to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was jailed under $26,000 secured bond. Whitley remained in jail as of earlier today (April 11). A District Court date is scheduled for May 1 in Iredell County.
