LR’s Allison Finishes Tied for Second at Tennessee River Rumble

Lenoir-Rhyne men’s golfer Holt Allison had his best finish as he finished in a tie for second place at the Tennessee River Rumble. Allison finished one stroke off the lead as Jack Vajda of North Georgia took home individual honors.

Allison did have the lead after day one but Vajda shot a one over par while Allison shot a four over to finish the tournament two under par. This was Allison’s second top ten finish and his first podium finish.

The Bears finished 12th as a team in a the 20-team field that saw the top two teams in the Division II rankings in the field as No. 2 Lincoln Memorial took the team title as No. 1 North Georgia finished second.

Sean Finan struggled in round one but fired back to back 71’s to move up to 49th place while Jake Moore also improved each round to finish in tie for 66th place. Matthew McDougall finished in 78th place while Mads Boas completed the Bears lineup in 88th place.

The Bears did finish 6th in pars this week with 54 just six off the lead of Grand Valley State but LR only had 12 birdies on the week.

Allison excelled on the Par 4’s on the two days as Allison and Vajda lead the field three under pars while Allison also lead the field with six birdies.

LR will now turn its attention to the post season as LR will first have the SAC Championship that will start on April 21st. Bears were also on the teams in consideration in the first NCAA regional rankings that came out on March 15th.
