LR Women’s Lacrosse Ends Season With Second Straight Road Win

Chloe Christensen set a career high with six goals as the Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse team finished the season on high note with a 17-10 win at Catawba. The Bears finished the season with back to back wins on the road as Kirra Olson and Jolan Morey added three goals as piece.

No one had more than a goal advantage in the first period as the teams traded goals as each team scored three a piece in the opening frame. Christensen’s third goal of the game give the Bears a 6-4 lead with 9:57 left to go in the first half as Bears took the two goal advantage into halftime. The Bears opened the second half scoring five straight goals including a pair from Morey and Olson.

The Indians cut the lead back to four but Alexa Burghardt had back to back goals to extended the lead back to six before Christensen and Morey scored lead to give the Bears the 17-10 lead. Bears scored 17 goals on 28 shots and 23 of their 28 shots were on goal. Tess Grimley caused four turnovers while Caitlyn Race added three as LR forced 23 turnovers on the night. Sally Friesen had eight saves in goal

The Bears keep their perfect record in Salisbury intact with the win. LR also have won six straight against the Indians. Catawba’s only win against the Bears was in overtime in 2017.

Friesen finished the season with 128 saves. Christensen is 10th all-time in caused turnovers after 20 this season. Christensen had ten goals in the last two games of the season.

The Bears end the season with a record of 5-10 overall, 4-6 in the South Atlantic Conference.
